View Funeral WebcastDoris Head Choate, 95, retired employee of Tennessee Knitting Mill and resident of Hemingway Drive, died Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at NHC Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with David Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born November 25, 1919 in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late George Henry Head and Fannie Mae Whitworth Head. She was married to Fulton Choate who preceded her in death on April 11, 1977. Mrs. Choate was a member of Highland Church of Christ. Survivors include her sister, Mable Head Bailey of Columbia; brothers, William Gardner Head of Columbia; Roy Fulton Head of Clarksville; nieces, Doris Ann Barnes, Linda Cooley, Carolyn Hay, Dana Atworth, Gloria Suggs, Barbara Moon; nephews, Ricky Head, Ken Hatley, Steve Head, Larry Cooley; and a special friend, Doris Hausbach. She was preceded in death by sisters, Wilma Head and Rachel Cooley; and brothers, George Henry Head, Enis Howard Head, and Billy Glenn Head. Active pallbearers will be men of Highland Church of Christ. Honorary pallbearers will be Elders and Deacons of Highland Church of Christ.
