Doris Leland Jones

View Video Tribute Doris Marie Leland Jones, 83, resident of Clark Lane, died Monday, October 1, 2012 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Bryan Basham and Ricky Clay officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. A native of Lewis County she was the daughter of the late Chester Leland and Margaret Clementine Milliken Leland. On January 5, 1946 she married James Ernest "J.E." Jones who preceded her in death February 25, 1989. She loved sewing, gardening, shopping, spending time with her family and her little dog, Cuddles. Mrs. Jones was a member of Scribner's Mill Church of Christ. Survivors include her children, Linda Margaret Jones Potts of Columbia; son, James Carl (Rachel) Jones of Columbia; brother, Willie (Dean) Leland of Dover, Ohio; step-brother, Gene (Joyce) Nafe of Rogersville, Alabama; grandchildren, Tony (Deanna) Potts, Carla Potts (Kevin) Pugh, Tonya Potts all of Columbia, Norwood (Brenda) Jones, Tracy (Kelvin) Mitchell; several great-grandchildren; two great-great grandsons; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Frank A. Potts; step-mother, Monnie (Nafe) Leland; two brothers, Clyde Leland, Donald Leland; sisters, Irene Cole and Faye Himes; step-brother, Raymond Nafe; step-sister-in-law, Helen Nafe; step-sister, Wilma (Nafe) Curtis and step-brother-in-law, Ben Curtis. Pallbearers will be Norwood Jones, Mason Pugh, Michael Pugh, Jeff White, Tony Potts and Brent Johnson.
