Mrs. Dorothy Mai Martin Church, 88, resident of the Nashville Highway, died Friday, August 9, 2013 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Andrew Roberts and Bradley Dugger officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 4 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Condolences may be offered online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Perry T. Martin and Mary Jane Jett Martin and was a 1943 graduate of Central High School. Before her marriage she was employed by Monsanto Chemical Company and Central Services in Columbia. On October 4, 1946 she married Charles A. Church who preceded her in death fifty years later on April 18, 1997. Mrs. Church was a homemaker who enjoyed sewing and reading her Bible. She was a member of Jackson Heights Church of Christ and previously was a longtime member of Lanton Church of Christ. Survivors include her son, Jerry (Lucy) Church of Columbia; daughter, Wanda (Donnie) Craig of Culleoka; sisters, Mattie Belle Breece of Columbia, Peggy (Junior) Palbas of Culleoka and Gayle Fitzgerald of Arrington; grandchildren, Scott (Talitha) Craig of Rockvale, Chance Church of Nashville, Angela (Darrell) Johnson of Summertown; five great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Mable Muncy, Mary Eberle, Louise Henry, Christine Harvey and two brothers, Charlie Martin and Earl Martin. Active pallbearers will be Chance Church, Darrell Johnson, Scott Craig, Jacob Craig, Kenneth Mullinax and Bradley Dugger. Honorary pallbearers include Elders and Deacons of Jackson Heights Church of Christ. The family would like to express a special thank you to caregivers, Nellie Benderman, Beth Flewallen and Rose Spires; a very special friend, Joannie Shively; and the Ladies of Jackson Heights Church of Christ.
