View Funeral Webcast Rev. Earl Edward Blythe, 99, retired Pastor Emeritus of Cornerstone Church and resident of Hendersonville, died Friday, August 28, 2009 at Skyline Hospice, Madison Campus. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at First Assembly of God Church, 907 Nashville Highway, Columbia. The body will be conveyed to Spring Hill Funeral Home, 5110 Gallatin Pike, Nashville 37216, for visitation Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The family will visit with friends Monday from 6:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Church, 726 West Old Hickory Boulevard, Madison 37115, concluding with funeral services at 7:00 p.m. Rev. Maury Davis will officiate. Private family graveside services will be on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Spring Hill Cemetery in Nashville. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. Born in Obion County, he was the son of the late Matt Blythe and Zola Mae Sampson Blythe. He was an ordained minister of the Assemblies of God and served congregations in London, Kentucky, as well as Milan, Jackson, and Dyer, Tennessee. Rev. Blythe served as District Superintendent for the Tennessee District Assemblies of God and as Home Missions Director for the State of Hawaii. Additionally, he served as District Youth Director and District Sunday School Director for 180 churches. His membership was with First Assembly of God in Union City. His first wife, Rudy Nell Webb Blythe, died February 23, 1986. Survivors include his wife since 1987, Alice Jane Schaffer Blythe of Hendersonville; son, Rev. Charles (Joy) Blythe of Columbia; daughter, Joyce (Jimmy) Williams of Mt. Juliet; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a brother, Alton (Jean) Blythe of Huntsville, Alabama. Serving as pallbearers are Terry Cain, Jon McShurley, Jacob Kidd, Jonathan Kidd, Barry Kidd, Jeremy Kidd, Mark Evitts, and Michael Stewart.
