View Video Tribute View Funeral Webcast Mr. Edgar L. Brown, 90, retired driver for the Maury County Board of Education and former resident of Thomas Avenue, died Thursday, July 15, 2010 at Life Care of Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Randy Short officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of the late John Brown and Louella Hardison Brown. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II in New Guinea. Mr. Brown was a member of New Lasea Church of Christ. His wife, Eula Jewell Harrison Brown, died May 25, 1994. Survivors include two daughters, Ella Mae (Charles) Sanders and Sharon Truelove; son, John E. (Thayne) Brown; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and sister, Edith Rummage, all of Columbia. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Vantrease. Serving as pallbearers are his grandsons, John Sanders, David Sanders, Daniel Sanders, Travis Brown, Robert Vantrease, and Joel Murphy. The family wishes to express appreciation to the staff of Life Care for their excellent care during his illness.
