Edna Earl Gilliam Helmick, 92, retired from SuperRama Grocery and resident of South Main St., died Tuesday, February 7, 2012, at NHC Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 12 noon at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Wendell Robinson officiating. Burial will follow at Morton Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Homer Lee Gilliam. She loved fishing, playing the piano, knitting and was a great cook. She was a member of Graymere Church of Christ. Survivors include grandchildren, Randy (Alisia) Helmick, Tony (Kathy) Helmick, Tina (Dale) Jackson, Tammy (Keith) Lyons, all of Columbia, Teresa (Todd) Doyle of Louisville, Kentucky; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; sister, Christine (Clyde) Lee of Cleveland; daughter-in-law, Wanda Helmick of Columbia; four nephews and three nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-five years, William Robert Helmick who died May 26, 2001; sons, Thomas Helmick, Bobby Gene Helmick, Larry Allan Helmick; brother, James Gilliam; sisters, Peggy Morrow and Francis Patton; and step-mother, Susie Bell Luttrell Gilliam. Active pallbearers will be Tony Helmick, Walter Moser, Jr., Keith Lyons, Asa Aldridge, Mike Patton and Dale Jackson. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of NHC Columbia and the staff of Caris Health Care.
