View Video Tributes Elaine Cheek Lamar, 95, died Monday, October 22, 2012 at her residence on New Lewisburg Highway. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Mount Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Rev. William Rolman officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Mount Cemetery. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Jessie Oslin Cheek and Bessie Myers Cheek. On January 8, 1938 she married Luther Nathaniel Lamar who preceded her in death October 11, 1996. Mrs. Lamar was a homemaker who enjoyed growing flowers, raising goats and chickens and entertaining her grandchildren. She was a member of Pleasant Mount Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Survivors include her daughters, Dr. Ruth (Jonathan Bates) Lamar of Columbia, Miriam Battersby of Franklin; sons, Jimmie D. (Janet) Lamar of Columbia, Kenneth (Cathy) Lamar of Culleoka, Larry T. (Ann) Lamar of Lewisburg; grandchildren, Paul (Linda) Lamar, Rachel (Scott) Chavez, Amanda (Wesley) Farmer, Rebecca Lamar all of Culleoka; Dale Lamar, Jessica (John) Moser, Chelsea Ledford all of Columbia, Dave (Angela) Lamar, Peggy (Adam) Hays both of Lewisburg, Edward (Carol) Battersby of Birmingham, Alabama, Annie (Jim) Strong of Nashville; 16 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; sister, Miriam Beck of Pensacola, Florida; and nephew, Jamie Beck of Pensacola, Florida.. Active pallbearers will be Jimmy Upshaw, Dale Lamar, Paul Lamar, Dave Lamar, John Park, Dennis Hayes, Prentice Martin and Jamie Beck. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Craig and elders of Pleasant Mount Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The family wishes to express special thanks to Jewel Dean, Peggy Thrasher, and Terri Massey for their kindness and care throughout her illness.
