Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Black Miller, 78, resident of Dyer St., died Sunday, May 18, 2014 at Williamson Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Steve Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in Concord Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Condolences may be offered online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Herbert Black and Virginia Johnson Black. On November 6, 1954 she married Luther Dean Miller who preceded her in death April 13, 1994. Mrs. Miller was a homemaker who loved canning and freezing fresh vegetables and working in her yard. She enjoyed scratch off lottery tickets and absolutely loved playing the card game Tonk. Mrs. Miller had been a member of Beech Hill Church of Christ. Survivors include her daughter, Deborah Ann Gray of Columbia; son, Dennis (Linda) Miller of Ashland City; son-in-law, Randall Vandygriff of Mt. Pleasant; brother, Franklin "Shank" Black of Franklin; sister, Birdie (A.D.) Gilmore of Georgia; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Fay Gray Black of Columbia; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, William Frank "PeeWee" Miller on July 15, 2005; a daughter, Janice Miller Vandygriff on January 25, 2011; and two brothers, William Ernest Black and James Herbert "Jimmy" Black. Active pallbearers will be Randall Scott, Brian Fitzgerald, Michael Webb, Bubba Vandygriff, Marcus Medina, Arnold Fox and J.R. McIlveen. A special thank you is expressed to Bo Scott, Tina Martin, Arnold Fox, Dr. Stephen Simmons and Staff, Dr. Cary Pulliam, Maury Regional Home Health Services, Williamson Medical Center CCU Staff and anyone else who provided quality of life services for Mrs. Miller.
