View Video Tribute View Funeral Webcast Elizabeth “Lib” Posey Craft was born to George Leon Posey and Vernice Russell Posey on November 24, 1923. She passed away at NHC Maury Regional Transitional Care on May 12, 2021 at the age of 97. She married the love of her life, Paul Craft on Saturday, April 4th, the day after graduating from high school. Paul proposed to her on April Fool’s Day, just a few days before. Elizabeth grew up in St. Joseph, TN and graduated from Loretto High School in 1942. After graduating, she moved to Sheffield, AL where Paul was working and playing baseball for Reynolds Aluminum. That same year, Paul was hired at Monsanto and was given the opportunity to play on their team. They moved to Columbia and were married for almost 58 years until Leukemia took Paul’s life in 1999. Elizbeth worked for Union Carbide where she served as Administrative Secretary, working with 13 different plant managers. After 40 years with the company, she retired in 1990. She was the first Certified Professional Secretary in Maury County and started the first Future Secretaries Association in the Southeast District of the U.S. in Columbia in 1967. Elizabeth was baptized at the age of 13 and was an active member of the West 7th Street Church of Christ until her health prevented her from attending. She loved to play the piano and organ and enjoyed painting. She enjoyed reading and was a wonderful cook. Although she had no children of her own, she dearly loved her nieces and nephews. She was admired by her family and friends and cherished each card, picture, gift, etc. she received over the years. She never missed an opportunity to congratulate someone upon their graduation, wedding, or birth of a child. Birthday cards from her were a special treat – always signed with a special gift enclosed. She is survived by 2 younger sisters, Gennie Adams of Hazel Green, AL and Earline Gooch of Florence, AL, as well as her brother-in law Don (Faye) Craft of Columbia, TN. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, George Posey, John Posey and Edward “Buddy” Posey and her sister, Doris Hale Brown. Her service will be held on Saturday, May 15th at 3:00 p.m. Oakes & Nichols in Columbia, TN. A special thank you to the doctors and staff of NHC Maury Regional Transitional Care for their care over the past 3 years.
