View Funeral WebcastElizabeth "Libby" Petty Mitchell Skillington, 66, resident of Skelley Lane, died Monday, February 9, 2015 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Chip Hunter officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 12:00 noon until time of service at the funeral home. Condolences may be offered online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Sam Petty and Betty Peebles Petty. She was a 1967 graduate of Columbia Central High School and graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor's degree in English. She later graduated from Columbia State Community College Nursing School and was employed as a Registered Nurse at Maury Regional Medical Center and Columbia Health Care and was a longtime member of the Maury County School Board. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. Libby enjoyed life and had a wonderful sense of humor. Survivors include her daughter, Elizabeth A. Mitchell of Las Vegas, Nevada; son, E. Davis Mitchell of Tennessee; grandchild, Bowie Presley Mitchell; and several cousins including Betty Bringle (Roger) Chapman of Columbia. She was preceded in death by her husband and father of her children, E. Davis Mitchell, III in 1982. Pallbearers include Roger Chapman, Douglas Chapman, John Peebles, B. Peebles, Jim Peebles, Michael McMillan, Gary McNatt and Tommy Peebles, IV.
