Elizabeth P Brown Vantrease

Our beautiful Elizabeth "Lizzie" Vantrease, age 56, of Robin Court went home to be with her Lord Jesus December 2, 2009. Funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon Saturday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Randy Short and Mike Bryan officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4 - 8 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. She was born Elizabeth Pauline Brown September 2, 1953 to parents Edgar and Eula Jewell Brown. She was educated in the Maury County School System where she graduated from Columbia Central High School in 1971. She attended Columbia State Community College where she earned an Associate of Applied Science Degree for Respiratory Care. She was employed by Maury Regional Hospital working as a Respiratory Therapist for thirty years. She loved and enjoyed life, never complaining about the hardships she endured. She was preceded in death by her mother Eula Jewell Brown who died in 1994. Survivors include her father Edgar L. Brown; her son Robert Vantrease whom she was most devoted; her big brother "Bubba" John E. (Thayne) Brown and sisters, Ella Mae (Charles) Sanders and Sharon Truelove all of Columbia; nieces Mary (Joel) Murphy, Tracy (Matt) Foster, Jewels, Samantha, Emily and Emelia Truelove, Mary (David) Pursley, nephews, John (Monica) Sanders, David (Suzee) Sanders, Daniel (Melissa) Sanders, Travis Brown, Fred (Tara) Roth, and Steven Roth, several great nieces and nephews; one aunt, Edith Rummage and numerous cousins. She is further survived by a great friend who has seen her through her many illnesses and hardships and has loved her unconditionally, Ann Morphis; special friend Greg Atwell; close friend and shopping companion Betty Ann Agnew; former co-workers and friends Sharon Dobbins, Lisa Trimble, Jan Butler, Christy Wright; and childhood friend Ann James. Other survivors include Timothy Vantrease, the father of her son; Christy Given whom she loved like a daughter; other members of the Vantrease family; special friends from New Lasea Church of Christ including Jack White, Valerie Bernhart, JoAnn Anderson, Tooter White, Annie Lee Grissom, Linda McDaniel, Harold and Carolyn Delk, Janet and Jimmie Lamar, Larry Fox, and John Waldrum, all of whom were so very kind to provide love, support, and transportation for Elizabeth during her time of need. Pallbearers will be John Sanders, David Sanders, Daniel Sanders, Joel Murphy, Travis Brown, Scott Sanders, Kasin Sanders and Justin Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Maury Regional Hospital.
