MRS. JAMES W. RICHARDSONMrs. Ethel Odil Richardson, 93, former resident of Woods Drive in Columbia, died Saturday, December 14, 2002 at Parkview Nursing Center in Huntsville, Alabama.Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Episcopal Church with The Rev. Thomas Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com.The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Will F. Odil, Sr. and Annilu Bearden Odil. Mrs. Richardson was a graduate of Peabody College in Nashville and taught in the Maury County school system for 15 years. She served for 25 years as superintendent of Food Services for the school system prior to her retirement in 1974.She was a communicant of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, a member of the Bishop Gailor Chapter of Episcopal Churchwomen and St. Peter's Altar Guild.Mrs. Richardson served as a volunteer for the Maury Regional Hospital Auxiliary for a number of years and was a member of the Thomas McKissick Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Captain James Madison Sparkman Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, Thursday Literary Club, Mynders Home Demonstration Club and Maury County Retired Teachers' Association.She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Richardson. long-time Maury County teacher and principal; a daughter, Margaret R. Carpenter; a grandson, Charles Carpenter and a brother, Will F. Odil, Jr..Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Linda Lou) Hardison of Huntsville, Alabama; a sister, Mrs. Blake C. Thackston of Murfreesboro; five grandchildren, Alan Carpenter, Scott Carpenter, Linda Carpenter, Amy Lynn Hardison and James Robert Hardison; two great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Carpenter and Anne Carpenter; several nieces and nephews.Active pallbearers are Tony Stone, Richie King, Jerry White, Rob Hardison, Alan Carpenter, Scott Carpenter, Mike Gilchrist and Guerry McComas. Honorary pallbearers are Randy Odil, Harold Stone, William Massey and Bill Carpenter.
