Mrs. Eva Mae Chandler Brewer, 86, former resident of Memphis, died Sunday, August 3, 2014 at her residence on Crofton Park Drive where she had made her home for the past eight years. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Peter Sierson officiating. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 5 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Entombment will take place Thursday at 12 noon at Memorial Park Mausoleum in Memphis, Tennessee with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until time of service in the mausoleum rotunda. The Shelby County native was the daughter of the late Erby Chandler and Dollie Mai Waterman Chandler. On May 6, 1949 she married Johnnie H. Brewer, Jr. who preceded her in death January 19, 2005. Mrs. Brewer was a homemaker and avid gardener. She enjoyed sewing and watching birds, and delighted in taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. While living in Memphis she was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Olive Branch, Mississippi. Upon moving to Columbia she moved her membership to Pleasant Heights Baptist Church. Survivors include her son, William H. (Teresa) Brewer of Columbia; grandson, William H. (Tabitha) Brewer, Jr. of Columbia; granddaughter, Erin E. Brewer of Columbia; and great-grandchildren, Hailey Brewer, Kinsley Brewer and Chance Brewer. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter Chandler and Tom Chandler and one sister, Theo Fleming.
