View Funeral WebcastMrs. Evelyn Alene Thompson Crumley, 74, resident of Mooresville Pike, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 12noon Saturday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Swango officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late John Douglas Thompson and Laura Louise Hill Thompson. She attended Maury County schools and worked as a clerk and delivery person at her parents' store, Thompson's Grocery. Mrs. Crumley loved cooking, music, playing the piano, and churchwork. She was a member of Columbia Free Will Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Van J. "Dusty" Crumley of Columbia; daughter, Marilyn (Doug) McCandless of Hampshire; son, DeWayne (Sherry) Crumley of Tuscumbia, AL; two grandsons, Ryan (Beth) Crumley of Birmingham, AL, Eric McCandless (and girlfriend, Cindy Oakley) of Hampshire; two great-grandchildren, Rachel Crumley, Elijah Crumley both of Birmingham, AL; two step-grandchildren, Josh Taylor, Kaye Johnson; two step great-grandchildren, Chloe Hassard, Garrett Hassard; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by five infant children, Faye and Kaye Crumley, Randall Lee Crumley, Van Douglas Crumley and Anita Louise Crumley. Pallbearers will be Ryan Crumley, Eric McCandless, Randy Hunt, Ernest Morton, Jimmy Pantall and Darrell Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be, Dr. Tom Farmer, James Boyd, Gerald Attkisson, Doug Brown and the Staff at NHC Columbia.
