Crowe, 86, retired from Columbia Fire Department and longtime resident of Columbia, died Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Mike Bryan, Kenny McFarland, and close friend, T.J. Wakefield officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with honors provided by the Columbia Fire Department Honor Guard. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 4:00 -8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com Born February 23, 1929 in Hickman County, Tennessee he was the son of the late Morgan Crowe and Amy Victoria Hedgepath Crowe. He was eleven days old when his mother passed away and was raised by his aunt and uncle, Morris Litton and Nell Crowe Litton. On January 3, 1948 he was nineteen years old and eloped to Franklin, Kentucky where he married seventeen year old Joyce Morton Crowe who survives him. He worked for Continental Baking Company from 1953-1963 at which time he began his thirty-one year career with the Columbia Fire Department until his retirement on April 30, 1994. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police James K. Polk Lodge #26, Tennessee Fireman's Association for thirty-five years, and attended New Lasea Church of Christ. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Wanda and Glenn Nix, Debbie and John Massey all of Columbia, and Starling and Doug Swann of Murfreesboro; sister, Mary Nell Boner of Nashville; brother-in-law, John Morton; grandchildren, Shannon and Lee Masterson of Franklin, Shelley and Dale Hinson, Ryan and Angie Massey, Corey and Marisa Massey all of Columbia, Eric and Molly Swann, and Bailey Raye Swann all of Murfreesboro; ten great grandchildren and one due in January; several nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters. Active pallbearers will be Columbia Fire Department Honor Guard. Honorary pallbearers include past and present Columbia Firefighters, Employees of Maury County Convenience Centers, members of the Fraternal Order of Police, Tennessee Fireman's Association, members of New Lasea Church of Christ, Dr. Gibran Naddy, and friends and neighbors.
