Flora Cross Thurman

View Video Tribute Mrs. Flora Cross Thurman, 100, resident of Lynnville, died Monday, February 3, 2014 at Life Care Center of Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols. Burial will follow in Lynnwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Condolences may be offered online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Giles County native was the daughter of the late Audie M. Cross and Zora Francis Cross. On September 9, 1928 she married Edward Beaumont Thurman who preceded her in death on November 1, 1996. She was a longtime resident of the Yokley Community in Giles County and a member of Taylor's Chapel United Methodist Church. Survivors include her daughter, Elizabeth Wells of Hendersonville; grandchildren, Lori (Terry) Arrington of Hendersonville, Keith (Tammi) Wells of Lynnville; great-grandchildren, Katie Wells (Chance) Motter, Beau (Briana) Wells, Blair Arrington, U.S. Navy, and Wade Arrington; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Wade Wells. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include Foster Thurman, Morris Thurman and the staff of Life Care Center of Columbia. The family wishes to express special thanks to the Life Care Center staff.
