Frances Eskew

MRS. FRANCES ESKEWMrs. Ara Frances McCanless Eskew, 85, retired employee of Barr Motor Company, died Wednesday, January 1, 2003, at her daughter's residence on Dowell Branch Road. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 12:30 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with John Vaughan and Wendell Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Thursday and Friday evenings from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Edgar Earl McCanless and Bertha Fox McCanless. She was married to Arden Eskew who preceded her in death on November 28, 1984. She was a 1936 graduate of Columbia Central High School and was a charter member of Graymere Church of Christ where she had taught Sunday School for several years. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Nancy Pennington and Mrs. Sharon (Joe Don) Gibbs, both of Columbia; one brother, Harris McCanless of Greenville, South Carolina; six grandchildren, Ricky (Jamie) Rich of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Melanie (Joey) Estes of Ethridge; Jodi (Keith) Sanderson, Jacqui (Gary) Brown, Courtney (Garry) Love, and David Gibbs, all of Columbia; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
