View Funeral WebcastFrances Meyer Evans went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 21, 2016 in Columbia, TN. Frances Meyer Evans was born in Memphis, TN on August 24, 1911. She was the daughter the late William Jennings Meyer and Leone Manker Meyer. She was preceded by her husband of 49 years Frederick Watkins Evans. They resided in Columbia Tennessee all their married life. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she was a member of the choir, taught Sunday school, and was active in the women of the church. Mrs. Evans was a member of the King's Daughters Circle and the James K. Polk Memorial Association. She attended Bible Study Fellowship in Nashville. Mrs. Evans was part of a prayer team that brought CBS to Columbia. She was involved in Community Bible Study in Georgia where she lived for 15 years. Mrs. Evans was an associate member of the Roswell Presbyterian Church in Georgia. She was always ministering to her loved ones, friends and strangers. She had a passion for missionaries in Georgia because of their work in spreading the gospel for Jesus Christ throughout the world. She is survived by her four daughters, Ann Watkins Evans of Alpharetta, GA, Frances Evans McCaig (Doug) of Anderson, SC, Elaine Evans Liberto, of Spring Hill, TN, and Virginia Evans Schroeder (William) of Alpharetta, GA , 9 grandchildren, Evan McCaig (Mollie) of Boulder, CO, Jonathan McCaig of Atlanta, GA, Annmarie Todd (James) of Durham NC, Allyson Gill (Jason) of Spring Hill, TN, Lauren Liberto of Atlanta, GA, Elizabeth Liberto of Spring Hill, TN, Blakely Varn (Wright) of Charlotte, NC, Andrew Schroeder of Milton, GA and Caroline Schroeder of Auburn, AL and 12 great grandchildren, 4 nieces Marcia Close (George) of McLean, VA, Elizabeth Hyland (George) of Flower Mound, TX, Alice Jordan (Jim) of Dallas, TX, and Cynthia Nelson (Parker) of Dallas, TX. Her cousins include Elizabeth Weimer of FL, Anne Vaughan of High Bridge, NJ, Robert Manker (Shirley) of MS, Anne Keesee (Thomas) of Memphis, TN, Betty Parish Lentz of Nashville, TN, Mallie Richmond of Franklin, TN, John Satterwhite (Argie) of Columbia, TN, Carol Jane Satterwhite of Columbia, TN, Don Savage of Franklin, TN, Dixie Williamson (George) of Nashville, TN, Ruth Hill McAllister (Dawson) of Columbia, TN and 2 American Field Service daughters, Birgit Bergmann of Hamburg, Germany, and Carmen Tomic of Santiago, Chile. The family appreciates the faithful service of Dana Jean Braden. We are also thankful for mother's faithful care givers Ann Ruth Kelly and Janice Anderson in Columbia and Jan Wisler who cared for her the last few months in Anderson, SC. The visitation is Friday, February 26 from 3-6 pm at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home in Columbia, TN. The service is at 11:30 am, Saturday, February 27 at the First Presbyterian Church of Columbia, TN. The Rev. Joe Evans and the Rev. Dr. Charles Weir will be officiating. (A private family burial will be before the funeral.)
