Franklin "Rosie" Brewer

August 16, 1933 — February 25, 2012

Franklin "Rosie" Brewer, 78, retired crane operator for Union Carbide Corporation, died Saturday, February 25, 2012 at his residence on Redbud Lane. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Pastor Keith Brewer and Chaplain Jeff Foster officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. Born in Red Bay, Alabama, he was the son of the late Isom Brewer and Mamie Brewer Brewer. An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Brewer was a life-time member of the National Rifle Association, loved hunting deer and turkey and fishing. Survivors include daughters, Carolyn (Larry) Goats and Beverly (Ed) Petrovich of Columbia; son, Glenn (Paula) Brewer of Columbia; grandchildren, Gina (Ricky) Randall of Columbia, Heather (Rob) Latimer of Murfreesboro, Brian (Stacey) Goats, Jason Puckett, Holly Goats, and Dustin Brewer of Columbia; great-grandchildren, Kayden Kelley, Brooklyn Latimer, Kayleigh Goats, Camden Randall, and Jake Latimer; sister, Mary Ellen Cellan of Columbia; several nieces and nephews; and beloved pets, Trixie, Lady, and Gracie. He was preceded in death by sons, Charles David Brewer and Frankie Edward Brewer, who died as an infant; sister, Bertha McGaw; and brothers, Thomas Woodrow Brewer, Roscoe Brewer, and William Curtis Brewer. Active pallbearers include Brian Goats, Jason Puckett, Dustin Brewer, Rob Latimer, Ricky Randall, Terry Church, Larry Brewer, Dewayne Brewer, Norman Wayne McGaw, Tony McGaw, Kenneth McGaw, and Billy Defur. Honorary pallbearers include Mary Brewer Adkison, Randy Ayers, Grace Davidson, Denise and John Reynolds, Judy Wood, Buck Simmons, Ricky Connor, Danny Puckett, Union Carbide Corporation Retirees, friends in the Ugly Creek and Bigbyville communities, and staff of Caris Hospice.
