View Funeral WebcastFred Blythe Gowan, 70, self-employed roofer, died Monday, February 8, 2010 at his residence on West 11th Street. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 12:00 noon at Oakes & Nichols with Eddie Rogers and Bobby Kelley officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. The Williamson County native was the son of the late Lafayette Franklin Gowan and Martha Elizabeth Tomlin Gowan. He served in the U. S. Army and was a member of the Church of Christ. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and had a special love for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Clara Geraldine Kelley Gowan of Columbia; sons, Tony (Dee) Sullivan of Franklin and Wayne Gowan of Columbia; sisters, Frances (Buck) Hall, Barbara Schrimsher, and Ruth (Jim) Hill, all of Columbia; brothers, Billy (Barbara) Gowan, James Gowan, and Larry Gowan, all of Columbia; grandchildren, Danielle Sullivan of Franklin, Ashley Sullivan of Columbia and Brittney Sullivan of Franklin, and Jeremy Wolski of Franklin; four great-grandsons; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by step-children, Ricky Sullivan and Connie Sullivan and brothers, Charles Gowan and Sam Gowan. Active pallbearers are Gary Kelley, Mike Kelley, Kenny Kelley, Ray Hall, Jeff Hill, Michael Hill, Tommy Vaughn, and Kenneth Gowan. Honorary pallbearers include Jeremy Wolski, Kenny Gowan, and Lee Young.
