Mrs. Elizabeth Gail Waddey Thomason, 73, long time resident of Santa Fe Pike, died Monday, December 25, 2023 at NHC HealthCare Columbia surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, December 28, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rick Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and Thursday from 12:00 P.M. until time of the services at the funeral home. Gail was born on January 12, 1950 in Spring Hill, Tennessee to the late Mark D. Waddey and the late Sarah Elizabeth Robertson Waddey. She graduated from Spring Hill High School and on January 6, 1968, she married Stephen Wayne “Steve” Thomason and was married until his untimely death on April 1, 2005. Her many interests including fishing, growing plants and she loved wrestling. For many years, she worked at The Balloon Shop on the Columbia Square where she was a balloon artist and a character delivery lady. She was a charter member of Spring Hill First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her children; a son, Jonathan Thomason of Culleoka; three daughters, Stephanie Ezell-Myatt (Tracey) of Charleston, SC, Virginia Morton (Shane) of Lynchburg, and Angela (Ol Faithful) Booker of Columbia; two sisters, Diane Williams and Annette Davis (Terry) both of Columbia; nine grandchildren, Richard Ezell, BriAnna Johnson (Adam), Destiny Murray (Jonquil), Christopher Gaddis (Cortni), Markayla Smith (Jaylen), Danielle “Tut” Booker, Daniel “Bubba” Booker Jr., Madison Thomason, and Kayden Thomason; three step grandchildren, Justin Fralix, Jerilynn Morton, and Cody Morton; seven great grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and her beloved dog Elsa.
Active pallbearers will be Carl “Bubba” Roland, Tommy Robertson, Larry Cartwright, Daryl Vaughn, William “Maxx” Dunnavant, Eron Hatchett, Ben Jordan, Daniel “Dan Dan” Booker, and Ronnie Ezell. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Danger, Dr. Charles Ball, the loving and caring employees of NHC Columbia HealthCare and Caris Healthcare.
