View Video TributeMrs. Genevia Kelley Johnson Green, 94, retired seamstress and former longtime resident of Columbia, died Friday, June 27, 2014 in Louisville, Kentucky. A graveside service will be conducted Sunday at 4:00 P.M. at Polk Memorial Gardens with Wendell Robinson officiating. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 2:00 - 3:30 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Condolences may be offered online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born March 15, 1920 in Maury County, Tennessee, which she was always proud to call her home, Mrs. Green was the daughter of the late John Kelley and Ruth Bell Greenfield Kelley. On October 19, 1940 she married Elmer Eugene Johnson who preceded her in death on October 28, 1984. On June 10, 1987 she married Cornell Allen "Connie" Green who preceded her in death on June 7, 1997. Mrs. Green was a former employee of Dixie Manufacturing and the Tennessee Hosiery Mill. She was an avid ROOK player and enjoyed country music. She was a member of Graymere Church of Christ. Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Jane Dreaden Johnson of Louisville, Kentucky; grandson, Stacy Eugene (Tracy) Johnson of Louisville, Kentucky; granddaughter, Sherrye (Scott) Isaacs of Louisville, Kentucky; great granddaughter, Abby Johnson of Louisville, Kentucky; great grandson, Jacob Johnson of Louisville, Kentucky; sisters-in-law, Irene Huckaby and Norma Beck, both of Columbia; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her devoted son, Thomas Eugene Johnson on July 1, 2011; two sisters, Mary Turner and Winnie Childress Jones; and two brothers, Adam Kelley and John Kelley, Jr. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
