View Funeral Webcast George August Endsley, 87, former long-time resident of Seavy Hight Road in Maury County, died Sunday, August 9, 2015 in Hendersonville where he made his home the past few years. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Randy Kersey and Hueston Marshall officiating. Burial will follow in Short Cemetery in the Spring Place Community in Marshall County with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to service time at the funeral home. Notes of condolence may be extended at oakesandnichols.com Born in Highmore, South Dakota, he was the son of the late Edwin Endsley and Irene Van Ovelshelde Endsley. He was a 1947 graduate of Marshall County High School and attended Draughn's Business College. From 1950-1952, He served in the U. S. Army attached to the ERC 8th Infantry, Company E Division of the Third Army Area. While on a tour of duty in Germany, he played on the U. S. Army Football Team. After discharge from the Military, he returned to Marshall County and was affiliated with Carpenters Local Union 223 for 60 years. An avid sportsman, he loved hunting and fishing and also enjoyed playing cards and working puzzles. Mr. and Mrs. Endsley enjoyed travel, and after a 50th Wedding Anniversay trip to Hawaii, had visited each of the 50 states. He was a long-time, faithful member of Scribner's Mill Church of Christ and member of Columbia Masonic Lodge #31. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, the former Mary Ethel Adams of Lewisburg, whom he married March 7, 1953; son, Tony (Phyllis) Endsley of Culleoka; daughters, Sandy Endsley Baker of Columbia and Cindy Endsley of Hendersonville; sisters, Marjorie (Farris) Taylor of Lewisburg and Sara (Steve) Tucker of Ocala, Florida; grandchildren, Angie (Jeff) Roberts, Jeremy (Ashlee) Baker, Ben (Jennifer) Endsley, Brooke (Travis) Hensley, Eric (Ashley) Endsley, Elliott (Meghann) Endsley, Paige (Michael) Bottoms, and Kasey Endsley; 20 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sisters, Lavonna Wilbur and Mary Wiggins and brother, Everette Endsley. Serving as active pallbearers are Jeremy Baker, Elliott Endsley, Ben Endsley, Eric Endsley, Norris Endsley, Wayne Troope, Chance Rosson, and Wayne Jean. Honorary pallbearers include Company E, 8th Infantry of the U. S. Army and members of Scribner's Mill Church of Christ.
