George Michael Neenan

It is with sadness that the family of George M. Neenan announces his passing on August 18, 2026. George, age 72, of Clarksville, TN passed away at home from natural causes.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Haynes Cemetery in Culleoka with military honors provided by the Fort Campbell Funeral Detail. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 1:00 PM until the time of service at the Funeral Home. Online condolences may be extended at www.oakesandnichols.com.

Born October 28, 1953, to the late George J. Neenan and the late Mary E. Neenan. George is preceded in death of his wife, Gail Potts Neenan and brother James E. Neenan.

He is survived by his children, Timothy Massey, David (Leslie) Massey, Jay (Jennifer) Massey, Diana (David) Moore; brother, John W. Neenan (Sharon); three sisters, Kathy Hildbrand, Marion Beck and Raine Neenan; beloved grandchildren William Massey, Keegan Stockton, Taylor and Garrett Massey along with Victoria and Sean Moore; nieces Rachel (Manny) Montanez, Kristine (Sean) O’Kelley, Katie (Sam) Beck and Colleen (Jared Childress) Neenan; and nephew John P. Neenan.

George served as a sniper with the 101st Airborne Division stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Retired from U.S. Government in a security role from the 160th at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. During his distinguished military career, he served in Desert Storm and participated in numerous missions. George enjoyed bowling, was a proud veteran, and a member of the VFW Post 1913 in Hopkinsville KY and the American Legion Post 289 in Clarksville TN. He was known for his quiet independence and natural strategic thinking. He was a strong and steady presence to his entire family.
