Gerald Rolfe Martin

View Funeral Webcast Gerald Rolfe Martin, 93, of Columbia, died Friday, August 18, 2023, at Maury Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born November 15, 1929, to the late Perry Martin and the late Verna Harris Martin. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Faye Martin. Known as an avid golfer, hunter, and farmer, he participated in numerous community activities including, Wagon Wheelers, Maury County Gun Club, and was a member of Masons Lodge 31 in Columbia, TN. He was a long-time member of Riverside United Methodist Church and devoted numerous hours as a hospital volunteer at Maury Regional Medical Center. Mr. Martin retired after 35 years with Monsanto Chemical Company. Mr. Martin is survived by his wife of 20 years, Sharon Browning Martin; daughter, Leslie (Al) Brannon of Signal Mountain, Tennessee; grandchildren, Paul (Michele) Brannon, Sean (Pam) Brannon; great grandchildren, Parker Byrd and Jackson Brannon; and Wanda Marshall McCarter, whom he loved like a second daughter. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at Riverside United Methodist Church at 1:00 P.M. with Reverend Tony Brown and Reverend Steve Douglas officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Active pallbearers will be Perry Pugh, Kaden Suzdak, Ronnie Erwin, David Henson, David English, Sonny Lee, Donny Walters, and Jim Carrigan.
