Mrs. Gertha Iveline Welch Price, 69, died Sunday, March 18, 2012 at her residence at the Willows on Rosewood Drive. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with John Vaughan officiating. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Brotherton Cemetery in Putnam County. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. A native of Putnam County she was the daughter of the late Henry N. Welch and Cornelia Maybell Dishman Welch. She was placed in Tennessee Children's Home in 1947 where she lived until she graduated from David Lipscomb High School in 1960. On August 25, 1965 she married Clifton Price. They were married 42 years until his death in 2008. During her career she lived in the St. Louis area where she worked as a telephone operator and later as an airline reservationist with TWA. In March 2009 she relocated to Columbia where she has lived the past 3 years. Mrs. Welch was a member of Graymere Church of Christ. Survivors include a brother, Bill (Carol) Welch of Columbia; sister, Alma (Dural) Green of Gray Summitt, Missouri; sister-in-law, Jean Welch of Nashville; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, one great-great niece and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry Eldon Welch and Carlos Welch and a sister-in-law, Phillis Welch. Family and friends will serve as Pallbearers.
