Mr. Glen Sherman Davis, 52, resident of Ed Temple Blvd. in Nashville, died Monday, July 30, 2012 at Baptist Hospital in Nashville. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Richard O'Neal McConnell officiating. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Inurnment will be Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Polk Memorial Gardens. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Baltimore, Maryland native was the son of the late Glennie Cordell Davis and Betty Sue Cates Davis. He served in the National Guard for twenty-two years attaining the rank of Spec 4. Mr. Davis was a "jack-of-all-trades" and a very good mechanic. He loved music, fishing and walking. Survivors include his wife, Viola Van Riper Davis of Nashville; daughter, Sunshine (Gary) Powell of Columbia; sons, Raymond (Bethany) Davis and Austin Davis both of Columbia; step-son, Steven Douglas Smith, Sr. of New York; sister, Robin (Tommy) Dale of Ethridge; grandchildren, Jacob Keith Davis, Landon Ray Davis, Madison Leigh Putnam; step-grandchild, Steven Douglas Smith, Jr.; and step-great grandchild, Jeremiah Smith. He was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Ray Davis.
