View Funeral WebcastMrs. Glenda Sue Herndon Reaves, 77, retired school teacher and resident of Candlewood Court, died Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Summerfield Nursing Facility at The Heritage in Brentwood. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Andrew Phillips and John Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Condolences may be offered online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Hustberg, Tennessee native was the daughter of the late Robert Glenn Herndon and Katie Thelma Morris Herndon. On November 22, 1958 she married Melvin Grady Reaves who preceded her in death January 6, 2011. She earned her Bachelor's degree at Harris Teacher College, her Master's degree at the University of Missouri and was an elementary school teacher in the Mehlville School District in Missouri for many years. She and her husband moved to Columbia where they were active members of Graymere Church of Christ and Mrs. Reaves taught the Wednesday morning Ladies Bible Class for several years. Survivors include her daughter, Sharon (Mike) Kinnard of Thompsons Station; sons, Charles Reaves of Phoenix, Arizona, David Reaves of Fairbanks, Alaska; grandchildren, Melissa (Chris) Haynes, Jennifer (Shaine) Street, Michael (Leigh) Kinnard, David Reaves; great-grandchildren, Heidi Street, Brayden Haynes, Jackson Haynes, Nash Street, Tripp Street; sisters, Faye Butler of Kentucky, Colleen Fahrenholz of St. Louis, Missouri; and brother, Charles (Paula) Anderson of St. Charles, Missouri. Pallbearers will be David Craig, Bobby Bishop, Eddie Harris, Charles Webster, Bill Welch, Ross Whitley and Jason Golden.
