Glenna Herren Stewart, 72, retired employee of Maury Regional Medical Center and former longtime resident of James Campbell Boulevard, died Sunday, February 22, 2015 at Signature Health Care where she had resided for the past fifteen years. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 12:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Pastor Steven Morgan officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 10:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Born May 18, 1942 in Bessemer, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Shannon E. Herren and Ruby Thorn Herren. On November 16, 1967 she married Frank Shelton "Doug" Stewart, who preceded her in death on May 18, 1998. During her career at Maury Regional Medical Center, she was employed as a Nurse Technician and longtime unit secretary. Mrs. Stewart enjoyed reading, sewing, crocheting and loved playing with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include her daughter, Sharon Horner (Ken) Ryan of Columbia; sons, Grady Everett Stewart of Columbia; Shannon Douglas (Kathy) Stewart of Murfreesboro; brother, David (Jan) Herren of Galveston, Indiana; sister, Martha (G. W.) Horner of Spring Hill; grandchildren, Samuel (Melissa) Ryan, David Ryan, Matt Ryan, Abby Ryan (Robert) Tennant, Brandon Stewart, Susan Stewart, Ryan Stewart, and Lindsay Stewart; two great grandchildren, Malachi Ryan and Oliver Ryan; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Steve Herren. Honorary pallbearers include Bill Stewart, G. W. Horner, Gerald Horner, Mark Horner, Butch Hickman, Mike Bunt, Dustin Tate, and David Herren.
