Goodman Seavy Craig

Goodman S. Craig, 91, former Maury County resident, died Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at his residence in Mobile, Alabama. Services and interment will be in the National Cemetery in Mobile, Alabama. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born and reared in Maury County, he was the son of the late Floyd D. Craig and Bessie Hight Craig and was a member of Pleasant Mount Cumberland Presbyterian Church during his early life. Shortly after graduation from Columbia Central High School in 1940, he went to work for the Tennessee Valley Authority. At the outbreak of World War II, he enlisted in the U. S. Army Air Corps. After the war he remained in the U. S. Air Force for 23 years, retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant. He was a life-time member of Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19 in Columbia. He had made his home in Mobile, Alabama since 1963 and operated as an independent trucker for a number of years, later working as a representative of the Mack Truck Company. Survivors include his daughter, Kim Craig of Tampa, Florida; son, Clay Craig of Mobile, Alabama; brother, Jack (Mildred) Craig of Columbia; sister-in-law, Martha Murphy Craig of Columbia; grandchild; and several nieces and nephews in Maury County. He was preceded in death by his brother, Gene Craig and sister and brother-in-law, Rachel and Hardison Thrasher.
