After graduating from Franklin High School, Gwen had a successful business career in accounting and finance for 26 years. She and her husband retired early to take over the family business which they ran proudly for 20 additional years. When not working she enjoyed a plethora of her many hobbies, including painting, crocheting, crafting with her grandchildren, artwork, pottery, cooking, baking and canning. She loved a good garden and looked forward to picking the first frosted turnip greens in the fall. Gwen loved a variety of music and would cut a rug, regardless of who was watching. She was always courageous when learning something new, and never kept her hands idle. Some of her fondest memories were spending time on the farm in Santa Fe with family and friends, long weekends on Percy Priest Lake with her husband hosting dinners, dock parties and occasionally some rest and relaxation! She loved vacations, especially RVing with her husband and friends, but a beach vacation was always her favorite. She looked forward to holidays and celebrations where she enjoyed showering her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews with gifts and love. She was always honored to bake wedding cakes when requested. One of her most cherished gifts was caring for others, she was compassionate to those who needed her loving guidance, especially her in-laws Jim and Mary Nell Creager, along with other close friends and relatives over the years. Her infectious smile and love for life will be missed by all who have been graced with her presence.
Gwen is survived by her husband, Russell Creager, son Jake Creager (Joanna, Jack, Nora and Cole), daughter Jessica Creager Hartline (Russell, Benton and Mary Hazel), brothers Michael (Gloria) Montgomery and Charles Allen Montgomery, sister Cheryl (Steve) Stewart, great aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and her lifelong extended Texas family.
She was preceded in death by her parents Charles Ronald Montgomery and Hazel Marie McCandless Montgomery.
