View Video TributeView Funeral Webcast Harold Dame Floyd, 79, went home to his heavenly father Thursday, April 14, 2011. He was a farmer, Union Carbide retiree, and a life-long resident of the Sawdust community. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols. Burial will follow in Wilkes Cemetery in the Culleoka Community. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to the PAWS of Maury County, 1233 Mapleash Avenue, Columbia, 39401, in honor of his cat, David, and his dog, Spot. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. Born in the Kings' Daughter Hospital in Columbia, he was the son of the late Bessie Dame Floyd and Masel Walker Floyd. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Sue Scott Floyd, the love of his life. Also surviving are two devoted daughters, Mollie Floyd and Susie (Dr. Brian) Jackson; and two grandchildren whom he adored, Christopher Jackson and Suzannah Jackson. He attended Woodrow School and Central High school. He attended Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church and in later years was a member of the West 7th Street Church of Christ. Harold was an avid outdoorsman who combined spending time with his family with his love of nature. Whether camping, fishing, hunting, or working on the family's Buffalo Trail Farm. He was a very generous man with his money and time and was always helping others. Harold had many friends and especially a few that were very devoted in the last couple of years: Roger, Sharon and Travis Howell, and Joe Bishop. Harold was a founding member of the Wooodrow Volunteeer Fire Department and a member of the Woodrow Community Club. He was also a member of the Sam Watkins Camp of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, Polio Heroes of Tennessee, and Maury County Historical Society. Pallbearers will be Christopher Jackson, Brian Jackson, Joe Bishop, Roger Howell, Travis Howell and Steve Anderson.
