Mr. Harold Rayburn Lawson, 75, retired aircraft mechanic, died Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at his residence on the Hampshire Pike. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Eddie Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the U.S. Navy. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. He spent his career in the United States Navy. Mr. Lawson enjoyed hunting and fishing and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife of nearly forty-four years, Hazel Bernice Bowles of Columbia; step-children, Gary Powell and Paula (David) Osborne both of Columbia and Donna (John) Houser of Churchville, Virginia; sister, Barbara Jean (Gerald) Woods of Crockett Mills; brothers, Don (Ellie) Lawson of Virginia, Robert (Sherry) Lawson of Collinswood, Mississippi; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
