Harold Douglas Watkins

View Funeral Webcast Harold Douglas Watkins, 67, retired diesel mechanic for Thompson Machinery and resident of Tom Anderson Road in Franklin, died Thursday, December 24, 2009 at the home of his care-giver in Franklin. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Bob Adair officiating. Burial will follow in Glennwood Cemetery with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of the late J. B. Watkins and Frances Fly Watkins and served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. His wife, Daisy Southall Watkins died in January 1999. Survivors include two sons, Shane (Heather) Watkins of Franklin and Tim Watkins of Ethridge; sister, Virginia (George) Houser of Franklin; brothers, Dan (Mary Tom) Watkins and Johnny Watkins of Columbia. The family expresses special appreciation to his devoted care-giver, Tina Chunn. Pallbearers are Keith Padgett, Mike Padgett, John Edward Houser, Dan Watkins, Johnny Watkins, and Brandon Watkins.
