Harriet Elizabeth "Mamaw" Thompson White, 89, retired employee of Maury Manufacturing and former resident of East Seventeenth Street, died Friday, January 1, 2016 at Signature Health Care. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Points officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 3:00 - 7:00 P.M at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Dickson County native was the daughter of the late Augustus Thompson and Era Welch Thompson Lane. On January 7, 1946 she married Fred White, Sr. who preceded her in death May 10, 2000. God blessed her with so much love in her heart for everyone and she truly loved children. "Mamaw" was known as the neighborhood mother and grandmother. An excellent cook, she also loved cooking for her family and friends. She enjoyed gardening and was an avid quilter. Mrs. White was a member of Williamsport Baptist Church. Survivors include her daughter, Patricia (Tommy) Bolton of Culleoka; sons, Fred "Teddy" White, Jr. and Howard (Sheila) White, both of Columbia; granddaughters, Francis Lynn Bolton (Quentin) Crews and Tammy White (James) Lovett; grandsons, Wayne (Kim) White, Bryant White, and Tommy Dale (Brandy) Bolton; step grandson, Nicholas Clark; fourteen great grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren; brother, Robert (Carolyn) Lane of Nashville; and two children whom she helped raise, Jeffery Dale Fox and Dixie Denise Benefield. She was preceded in death by one sister and six brothers. Pallbearers will be Christopher White, Jessie Guthrie, Jordan Lovett, Matthew Lovett, Jeff White, Nicholas Clark, and Dale Bolton.
