MR. HAYES DUNNAVANT Mr. Hayes Dunnavant, 77, retired auditor for the Tennessee Department of Employment Security and resident of Habersham Road, died Saturday, November 16, 2002 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Leon Reed, Barry Dunnavant and Rev. Neil Dunnavant officiating. Burial will be in the Lynnwood Cemetery at Lynnville. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The Lincoln County native was the son of the late John Rhoden Dunnavant and Maymie Mansfield Dunnavant and was a 1944 graduate of Jones High School at Lynnville.. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II in the Philippines and Japan attaining the rank of sergeant . He was a member of the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. Mr. Dunnavant was a member and served as a Deacon of the Lynnville Baptist Church. He was first married to Blanche Thurman Dunnavant who died June 20, 1997. Survivors include his wife, Wilma Paysinger Bass Dunnavant of Columbia; a son and daughter-in-law. Barry Hayes and Michelle Dunnavant of Atlanta, Georgia; a step-daughter, Patricia Bowling of Los Alamos, New Mexico; a step-grandson, Bryson Bowling of Los Alamos, New Mexico; a sister, Jonetta Beesley of Murfreesboro; a brother and sister-in-law, James M. and Carolyn Dunnavant of Lynnville; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Dunnavant. Pallbearers are Bob Dunnavant, Richard Callahan, Don Steele, John Marshall, Glenn Dunnavant, Rick Marshall, Steve Gordon and Jim Van Bibber.
