View Video Tribute View Funeral Webcast Hazel Elizabeth Burchett Harris, 94, resident of Experiment Lane, died Sunday, January 9, 2011 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Mike Dawson officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The Rutherford County native was the daughter of the late Scoby Burchett and Margaret Norris Burchett Smithwick. She was a member of Graymere Church of Christ. Mrs. Harris taught ceramics for many years, loved music, and working in her flower garden. During the time Mr. Harris coached baseball, she was an enthusiastic supporter and encouraged their children in sports and all activities. She was also a wonderful cook and doting grandmother. She was married October 26, 1935 to Woodrow Wilson Harris who preceded her in death August 14, 1996. Survivors include three daughters, Peggy Holcomb, Connie (Bobby) Harris, and Susan Hamby, all of Columbia ; a son, Pete (Rebecca) Harris of Brentwood; grandchildren, Tracy (Brian)Ferrell, Beth (Rick) Clawson, Kenneth Charles Holcomb, Sarah Barry, Nathan Harris, Shelley (Jason) Gose, Jennifer (Scott) Wilson, Kim (Brian) Sanderson, and Shannon (Dennis) Robbins; eighteen great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are Nathan Harris, Jason Gose, Chase Gose, Scott Wilson, Rick Clawson, Brian Sanderson, Elliott Sanderson, Archie Morrow, and Dennis Robbins.
