View Video Tribute View Funeral Webcast Frances Helen Hood Harris, 78, long-time resident of Goshen Road in the Santa Fe Community, died Sunday, March 25, 2012 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Jim Gardner and Rev. Joe Bowers officiating. Burial will follow in the Goshen Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Goshen United Methodist Church, c/o Connie Thompson, 109 Hobbs Drive, Columbia 38401 or Goshen Cemetery Association, c/o Winfred Baker, 4638 Bass Alderson Road, Santa Fe, 38482. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. Born in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late James Allen Hood, Jr. and Fannie Mae Blackburn Hood. Mrs. Harris was a faithful member of Goshen United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women Night Circle. She was a long-time member of the Water Valley FCE. Her joy was cooking for family and friends and for many years she sent countless cards on birthdays, anniversaries, and to those who were ill and in bereavement. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she is survived by her husband of 48 years, Henry B. Harris, whom she married September 11, 1963; daughter, Janet Harris (Dennis) Thomason of Santa Fe; son, Jamie Anthony "Tony" (Debbie) Harris of Santa Fe; grandchildren, Michael Chase Thomason, Matthew Trent Thomason, and Emily Hope Thomason, all of Santa Fe; sisters-in-law, Pat Hood, Virginia (Billy) Reed, Joann (Charles) Biggs, Marie (Jimmy) Peters, Linda (Larry) Venable, and Loretta Harris; brother-in-law, Freeman (Reba) Harris; nieces, Debbie Riddle and Donna Rochino; nephew, Allen Hood; numerous other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Hood. Active pallbearers are Chase Thomason, Trent Thomason, Brent Vaughn, Ronnie King, J. W. Shouse, and Greg Riddle. Honorary pallbearers include David Alderson, Randy Maxwell, Dr. Eslick Daniel, Bill Alderson, Jack Lockhart, Buddy Martin, Paul Miller, and men of Goshen United Methodist Church.
