View Video Tribute View Funeral Webcast Henry Earl Stockdale, age 67, entered into the presence of his Savior on Monday, July 12, 2021. Henry was born in Camden, TN on October 12, 1953, to the late Frank and Marcelle Stockdale. As a young boy growing up on a farm in West Tennessee, Henry developed a strong work ethic, a humble appreciation for God’s provision, a devotion to family, and a spirit to live each day to the full; cornerstones of his character that would serve him well throughout his life. Henry attended the University of Tennessee at Martin where he received a Bachelor of Animal Science. Throughout his career, Henry managed multiple pure bred Angus farms, built custom homes as a residential contractor, and for the past twenty-one years owned and operated Stockdale Livestock Transportation where he made deep and lasting friendships with Angus farmers across the country. In 1972, Henry met Nancy Taylor, and so began a love story that spanned more than 49 years. They were married on July 24 at Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Camden, TN. In their forty-five-year marriage, they have been blessed with two children and four grandchildren, who lovingly call them Pop and Nonna. Upon moving to Columbia, Tennessee in 1981, he and Nancy became members of Zion Presbyterian Church where they have served and worshiped ever since. Henry will forever be remembered for his kindness, generosity, loyalty, sense of humor, big smile, and his love for family and friends. Never has a man of so few words had such a profound impact on the people around him. He is survived by his wife of forty-five years, Nancy Taylor Stockdale; his children Hank (Lindsay) Stockdale of Alpharetta, Georgia, and Laura Lee (Stephen) Horton of Thompson’s Station, Tennessee; his grandchildren Ellie Kate, Brady and Etta Ruth Horton, and Reese Stockdale; brother Robert (Judy) Stockdale; and sister Bonnie Roberts. The family will visit with friends on Thursday, July 15, 2021 from 4:00 P.M.- 8:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home (320 West Seventh Street, Columbia). Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 16, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at Zion Presbyterian Church (2322 Zion Road, Columbia) with Pastor Jeff Wilkins officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Presbyterian Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Clay Markham, Shane Thurmon, J.D. Lineberry, Daniel McGee, Kyle Norris, and Kerry Pruitt. Honorary pallbearers include Dr. Charles Ball, Dr. Pitts Hinson, Dr. Vance Hendrickson, Joe Thomas, Michael White, and friends at Tennessee Livestock Producers. Donations can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (www.jdrf.org), or Zion Presbyterian Church, 2322 Zion Road, Columbia, TN 38401.
