Herbert Holt Nichols, 87, a resident of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2026 surrounded by family at his residence.
Funeral Services will be conducted Monday, March 30, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Nolen Hills Church of Christ 7481 Nolensville Rd. Nolensville TN 37135 with Jeremy Butt officiating. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens at 3:30 PM. The family will visit with friends Monday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations to the Dementia Society. https://Dementia Society of America/donate

Born November 17, 1938 in Nolensville, TN, Herbert was the son of the late Berry Douglas Nichols and the late Lena McFarlin Nichols. On March 25, 1960 he married the love of his life, Agnes Jenkins. He spent his life as a dairy farmer, owning Nichols Jerseys for many years. Herbert loved antiquing, fishing and showing his cows. He was of the Church of Christ Faith.
Survivors include his wife of sixty six years, Agnes Jenkins Nichols; son, Mark (Sandra) Nichols; daughter, Leigh Ann (Randy) Rummage; grandchildren, Kyle (Alex) Nichols, Brittany (Scott) Simpson, Brandon (Caroline) Nichols, Ryleigh Rummage; great grandchildren, Emmitt Nichols, Myla Nichols, Landon Nichols, Kendall Nichols, Lainey Nichols, Cooper Simpson, Jack Simpson; siblings, Becky Thompson and Sue Evans.
In addition to his parents, Herbert is preceded in death by his siblings, Glenn Nichols, John Nichols, Robert Nichols, Doug Nichols, Mary Jane McClain, and Mildred Harding.
Pallbearers will be Kyle Nichols, Brandon Nichols, Randy Rummage, Jeff Hughes, Lynn Stephens, and Scott Simpson. Jr. Pallbearers will be Emmitt Nichols, Landon Nichols, Cooper Simpson, and Jack Simpson. Honorary pallbearers will be Lynn and Kenny Harding, Donald Evans, Jimmy McClain, Gary and John Nichols.
The family would like to express a special heartfelt thank you to his caregiver, Tina Hoyt.
