"Pappy" Hanvy, Jr., 73, retired 46-year employee of the produce department at Kroger Company and resident of Campbellsville Pike, died Friday, October 29, 2010 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Tony Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Sunday after 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Bigbyville United Methodist Church, 6005 Criddle Drive, Columbia 38401. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of the late Herman L. Hanvy, Sr. and Ophelia Dial Hanvy. He attended school in the Culleoka Community and served in the Tennessee National Guard. Mr. Hanvy was a long-time member of Bigbyville United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Shelby Bolton Hanvy; daughter, Brenda (Steven) McCanless and sons, Terry (Kim) Hanvy and Kenny Hanvy of Columbia; grandchildren, Josh Diaz, Brandon Mabry, Brittany Mabry, Dustin Potts, Cameron McCanless, Alec Hanvy, Ryan McCanless, Kendra Hanvy, Shana Johnson, Austin Moss, and Sam Hanvy; great-grandchild, Hunter Diaz; sisters, Josephine Johnson of Murfreesboro and Betty (Billy) Pilkinton of Columbia; brother, Tommy (Lorenza) Hanvy of Columbia; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Felker, Betty (Don) Thomas, Letha (Danny) Smith, Mary (Bill) Adkisson, Glenda Bolton; brothers-in-law, Benny (Alice) Bolton and Ark Dukes; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Roan Murphy and Diana Hanvy. Active pallbearers are Kendra Hanvy, Brittany Mabry, Sam Hanvy, Ryan McCanless, Alec Hanvy, Cameron McCanless, Brandon Mabry, and Josh Diaz.
