Herman Cleatus Howell

Herman Cleatus Howell, 88, retired General Motors employee, retired Pastor of Hidden Mannah Church in Yokley, TN, and resident of Columbia, passed away peacefully at his residence on Saturday, September 5, 2026.

The family will be hosting a memorial service on October 4th at 10 am at Christ-Centered New Covenant Church, 962 N Brace Rd, Summertown, TN 38483 . There will be a Celebration of Life immediately following in their multi purpose/ community center. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Herman was born May 21, 1938, in Pulaski and was the son of the late Quillear Elam Howell and the late Beatrice Garner Howell. In April 1955, he married Nancy Ann Griggs, who preceded him in death on October 19, 2020. Also preceding him in death were brothers, Bobby and Chester as well as sisters, Gladys, Lorene, Christine, Zelda Joyce, Aster, Jane, Betty and Marie.

Herman was father to five children, Linda Dianne (deceased), Richard (deceased), Betty Lynn, Randy, and Ronnie (deceased).

Herman was loved and will be missed by his children; his brother,Bruce Howell; many grandchildren; great grandchildren; nieces; nephews and friends.
