View Funeral WebcastMrs. Hortense Grace Whiteside Delk, 96, homemaker and former longtime resident of the Kettle Mills Community in Williamsport, died Saturday, January 30, 2010 at the home of her daughter in Hendersonville, Tennessee. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Delk Cemetery. The family will visit with friends after 4:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Ben Oscar Whiteside and Anna Pogue Whiteside. On August 1, 1933, she married Edward Blair Delk, Sr. who preceded her in death on October 13, 1977. Mrs. Delk was a 1931 graduate of Hampshire High School. She was a member of Greenfield Bend Church of Christ. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara (Jim) Husband of Seymour; Patricia (Glen) Rodgers of Hendersonville; three sons, Edward Blair (Mary Carolyn) Delk of Columbia; Harold (Carolyn) Delk of Spring Hill; Wayne (Charlotte) Delk of Hermitage; twelve grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; three sisters, Kathleen Morton of Hampshire; Edith Delk of Williamsport; Vera Ann (Jerry) Grimes of Mt. Pleasant; and one brother, Cecil (Letha Lou) Whiteside of Hampshire. She was preceded in death by one brother, Paul Neeley Whiteside. Pallbearers will be Mark Delk, Jeff Husband, Greg Husband, Steven Delk, Patrick Rodgers, Richard Weakley, Jason Delk, Ben Farris, and Jim Weakley. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Greenfield Bend Church of Christ, Ronnie Mash, Buddy Morrow, Beth Foster, Carl Harris, Jr., Neil Delk, Joe Delk, and Charles Delk.
