Howard Cole Brady

March 30, 1922 — July 2, 2009

Howard Cole Brady, 87, retired U. S. mail carrier for 45 years and resident of Sunnyside Lane, died Thursday, July 2, 2009 at Alive Hospice at St. Thomas. Graveside services will be conducted Friday at 3:00 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery with John Vaughan officiating. Military honors at graveside will be provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The family will visit with friends Friday from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols. Memorials may be made to Alive Hospice of Nashville, 1718 Patterson Street, Nashville 37203. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was son of the late S. B. Brady and Lula Jaggers Brady. He was a 1940 graduate of Columbia Central High School.During World War II, he served in the U. S. Army and earned the Victory Medal and Meritorius Unit Medal. He was a member of Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. He is survived by a sister-in-law, Charlene Stanfill Brady of Columbia; great-nephews, Philip Zimmerman and fiancé, Gretchen Selcke of Nashville and Dr. Geoffrey (Lisa) Zimmerman of Katy, Texas; great-great-niece, Taylor Faye Zimmerman of Katy, Texas; and nephew-in-law, Dr. Carl Zimmerman of Nashville. He was preceded in death by a special niece, Janice Brady Zimmerman; a sister, Mildred Brady; brothers, William Irvin Brady and Francis Brady; and a half-sister, Louise Hanson. Members of Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19 will serve as pallbearers.
