Howard L Hinderliter

August 17, 1934 — January 24, 2012

Mr. Howard L. Hinderliter, 77, resident of Old Zion Road, died Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2:00 p.m. at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Rev. Calvin Lunn officiating. Military honors will be provided at the church by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. Inurnment will follow at a later date in Illinois. The family will visit with friends Friday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at the church. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 1106 Nashville Highway, Columbia, TN 38401. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Galva, Illinois native was the son of the late Lester S. Hinderliter and Goldia Jacques Hinderliter. He was reared and educated in Galva and Alexis, Illinois and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Hinderliter was employed by B.F. Goodrich Chemical Plant in Henry, Illinois. After retirement he worked at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lacon, Illinois. He enjoyed playing golf and riding motorcycles. He was a member of the Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife of twenty seven years, Reva Elizabeth Brown Hinderliter of Columbia; son, Michael (Betty) Hinderliter of Virginia; daughters, Pamela (John) Sanders and Marylynn (Pat) Ackland both of Bremerton, Washington, Sandra Jorgeson of Malden, Illinois, Karla Galpin of Princeville, Illinois; granddaughter, Heather Hinderliter of Rockford, Illinois; stepson, Terrence (Meredith) Bybee of Columbia; sisters, Mary Smith of Florida, Linda (John) Ruiz of Spring Valley, Illinois; eleven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by foster parents, Walter and Edna Sandstrom, four brothers and two sisters. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Campbell, Vernon Wunder, Marcen Jeffiers, and elders of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
