Hubert Marshall Cheek passed away peacefully on November 29, 2025 at the age of 84. He was born on August 16, 1941, in Columbia, TN. He was known for his witty sense of humor, strong work ethic and his passion for golf, gardening and travel.
Survived by his children and their wives Terri Bean, Seattle, WA, Carter Cheek (Melissa), Scott Cheek (Amber), Wilburton, OK, and Kyle Cheek (Lynette) and his grandchildren Alex Bean, Carter Lee Cheek, Dakota Cheek, DJ Losch, Sheyenne Cheek, Miranda Cheek, Cole Cheek and Emily Cheek, ten (10) great grandchildren, his brothers Don Cheek and Myron Cheek, nieces and nephews and his children’s mother, Lynda Davis.
He was preceded in death by his parents Marshall and Lottie Cheek, brother Larry Cheek, granddaughter Ashley Cheek and nephew Jaime Cheek.
Hubert graduated from Central High School in 1959. He began his work career at Hooker Chemical Company followed by Hobbs Equipment Company and Torco Equipment Company in Franklin, TN. Upon the purchase of Torco Equipment Company he renamed the business, Utility Equipment Service and relocated the business to Spring Hill in 2001 when he returned to live in Maury County. He sold the business and retired in 2017 after providing more than 36 years of service to communities across the Southeast. Customers and business partners knew him as a man whose commitment was sealed with a handshake and one who demonstrated value and appreciation for those relationships.
A celebration of life will be held at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday, December 4th, 4pm-8pm and the service will be Friday at 10am with a private burial ceremony for the family immediately following. Pallbearers will be Carter Lee Cheek, Dalota Cheek, DJ Losch, Bill Cheek and Delano Haywood. The service will be conducted by Tim Melikian, Associate Pastor, Maury Hill Church.
