Ida Frances Grissom Gibson, 88, former resident of Ashwood Drive, died Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at Maury Regional Medical Center. A graveside service will be conducted Friday at 4:00 p.m. at McCains Cemetery with Elder Marie Pressnell officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday from 1 - 3:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late George Irvin Grissom and Laura Ann Webb Grissom. In her early years she was employed at Hollywood Grocery which was owned by her family, then later worked at McBride's Grocery. For many years she was a seamstress at Factory Suit Outlet until her retirement. After moving to Life Care Center she was very active ministering to the other residents. She was a lifelong member of the Pentecostal Church of Christ and also attended God's Refuge Church. She is survived by grandchildren, Ronald Shane Potts and Laurie Frances Gibson both of Columbia; one great-grandchild; niece and special caregiver, Janice White of Columbia and several other nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, L.D. Parham; sister-in-law, Nannie Jo Grissom; and cousin, Carolyn Norman. She is preceded in death by daughters, Edith Sharon Gibson and Dell Annette Gibson Burns; sister, Lillie Mae Parham; and brother, Ernest Grissom.
