View Video Tribute Imogene Hyatt "Imo" Wagster, long-time resident of Sunnyside Drive, died Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at NHC Hillview. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Scott D. Aleridge officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Ayres-Whitney Fellowship Sunday School Class, 222 West 7th Street, Columbia 38401, Maury Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, 1224 Trotwood Avenue, Columbia 38401. Notes of condolence may be offered at oakesandnichols.com. The Lawrence County native married William Lemuel "Lem" Wagster September 15, 1946. They owned and operated Wagster Drug Company in Mt. Pleasant for many years and she served as bookkeeper. Their sixty-one year marriage ended with his death October 17, 2007. She also was secretary for a number of years for Southern Termite and Pest Control. Mrs. Wagster was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church in Columbia and the Ayres-Whitney Fellowship Sunday School Class. Active in civic and community affairs, she was a member of the James K. Polk Memorial Association, Students Club, Maury Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, and was a supporter of Harvest Share. She also was a former member of Graymere Country Club, Mt. Pleasant Country Club, and enjoyed playing bridge and golf. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Wagster and Randall Lunn of Columbia; step-grandchildren, Carmen Lunn (Jimmy) Ford and Amber (Kit Peden) Lunn of Columbia; step-great-grandchild, Porter Ford of Columbia; brother, Pruitt (Joanne) Hyatt of Hohenwald; several nieces and nephews; and friend and care-giver, Phyllis Armstrong of Columbia. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jean Elizabeth Wagster and her mother, Nina Bell Hyatt. Active pallbearers are Ron Sharp, Richard Wagster, John Wagster, Tim Lunn, Wayne Lunn, and Dickey Cartwright. Honorary pallbearers include the Ayres-Whitney Fellowship Sunday School Class and Maury Regional Medical Center Auxiliary. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff of NHC Hillview for their care and kindness during her illness.
