The Maury County native was the daughter of the late John Cody Bailey and Josephine McGaugh Bailey. She was a 1944 graduate of Columbia Central High School. She later attended David Lipscomb University, UCLA, and the University of California at Berkley. She made her home in Montgomery, Alabama for a number of years retired as supervisor of the Neuro-Diagnostic Clinic at Maxwell Air Force Base. Jeanne was an exceptional caring nurse who constantly strived to further her education, reading many medical publications on a regular basis and continuing education at the post graduate level through UCLA and UC Berkley. She was a source of medical information for many and always willing to extend herself and help others. Jeanne worked as a technician, analyst, researcher and the supervisor of the Neurology/Electroencephlography/ Electro Miogrophy lab at Maxwell Air Force Base hospital for years until she was forced into retirement by an injury suffered catching a falling patient. She worked on several research projects and had a standing invitation even into her later years to continue the research part of her career working with Dr Penry at NIH in Washington. She occasionally pitched in and helped in the ER at Maxwell when they needed an additional nurse during crisis. She contributed significantly in getting several pieces of legislation passed in Alabama and several surrounding states including the "Good Samaritan" law and the law permitting anyone who has ever had a "seizure" to drive again after being "medicated and seizure free" for a period of time. Jeanne lived her life as a strong practicing Christian giving of herself to many people. She was dedicated to her Lord, her family and friends. Jeanne read and studied the Bible often and was a very active Christian with her husband and children in the congregation at Cloverdale Christian Church in Montgomery and in all other parts her life. She started her life well in a strong Christian family attending the Church of Christ. Jeanne loved people, was very friendly and helped many; she respected people and they respected her. People accepted her and realized her gentle spirit even in her final years when she had almost lost the ability to communicate verbally. They knew she cared; many people have known and love her; her positive, caring life touched many. She was involved in many activities in her life including garden clubs, many charities, activities at church, painting, pottery, restoring antiques, raising flowers, gardening, flower show judge, cub scout parent leader, brownie parent leader, sand lot baseball player with her kids, unbelievable support for kids and friends, and she could fix almost anything. Survivors include her son, William DeLosson "Bill" Rummans, III of Maitland, Florida; granddaughters, Heather Youngblood of Prattville, Alabama and Kelly Rummans of Fern Park, Florida; sisters, Grace (Guy) Porter and Jane (Bob) Farmer, both of Columbia; and several nieces and nephews.
