Mrs. Irene Elizabeth Sndyer Duncan, 79, resident of Mapleash Avenue, died Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at Maury Regional Medical Center. A native of Cooperstown, New York, she was the daughter of the late Roy Sndyer and Eliza Elizabeth Thayer Sndyer. She was married to Herbert V. Duncan who preceded her in death in 1988. Mrs. Duncan had been employed by Sure Catch Fish & Tackle and also had been a cook for Upstate Home for Children in New York. At one point in her life she had been a sitter for children and for the elderly and was of the Methodist faith. She was loved by all who knew her and she loved them. Survivors include her son, Daniel Duncan of Columbia; daughter, Mary Ann Chapman of Columbia; sisters, Christine Teachout of Maryland, NY; Bernice Shellgate of Upstate NY; brother, Benjamin Edward Sndyer of Cooperstown, NY; grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Chapman, Amber Ann Clements, Anna Irene Clements, Louis Duncan, Michael Duncan, Claire Duncan, Charles Duncan, and Charles Duncan, III; thirteen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
